About The Role

ARAG UK, a market-leading insurance and legal services provider, has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Internal Auditor to join our Internal Audit team, based in our modern office near Temple Meads station in central Bristol.

Internal Audit sits at the heart of ARAG UK: we work with colleagues across the business, providing independent assurance, constructive challenge and practical insight to help them understand what is working well, where risks are emerging, and how things can be improved. Our work provides the Board and senior management with confidence that the business is being run effectively and safely, ultimately helping ARAG deliver access to justice for all.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for supporting the delivery of high-quality internal audits within set deadlines, achieving outcomes that improve the overall control environment and risk management within ARAG UK. You will help drive the end-to-end audit process for allocated audits, including:

  • performing audit planning and risk-assessments to develop the scope.
  • developing a risk-based audit program, conducting audit testing and producing high-quality audit working papers.
  • drafting management-ready audit findings and reports which are clear, concise and objective.
  • communicating with business stakeholders, including management, throughout the audit engagement, including communication and confirmation of audit findings.

Some audits may be undertaken individually, and some will be delivered alongside one or more internal audit team members. Your work will adhere to the Global Internal Audit Standards and ARAG Internal Audit frameworks.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Building effective relationships at all levels in the organisation, including demonstrating professional scepticism and constructively challenging management.
  • Reviewing evidence provided by the business to assess whether agreed audit actions have been completed.
  • Supporting the continuous enhancement of the audit function and audit processes through sharing insights and good practices and proactive involvement in function-level activities.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have previous Internal Audit experience, ideally in a UK-regulated insurance or financial services company. We’re actively seeking candidates with working knowledge of the Global Internal Audit Standards and Internal Audit practices, together with a good understanding of risk management and internal controls frameworks and testing approaches. Ideally, you’ll have a professional qualification in internal audit (or progress towards one) although candidates who have equivalent relevant experience are encouraged to apply.

Our ideal candidate will also be able to demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You will be able to produce impactful, evidence based audit findings that explain the issue, risk and root cause and you’ll be able to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • An inquisitive mindset and strong analytical skills, including ability to assess risks and evaluate information (including data) to identify audit findings.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative in a hybrid environment, using good planning and prioritisation skills to deliver high-quality work on time with limited supervision.
  • Specific technical auditing expertise (e.g. IT, AI, data analytics, etc.) is beneficial.

Reward

In return for your commitment, we will offer you generous remuneration and a benefits package to include:

  • 27 days holiday + bank holidays+ ‘MyDay’ (1 day to take at your discretion during the year)
  • Contributory company pension scheme (up to 10% employer match)
  • Opportunity to buy up to 5 days of annual leave every year
  • Employee Reward and Incentive Scheme
  • Progressive career pathway and development opportunities
  • The option to join our Sports and Social club which organises discounted events such as theatre visits, sporting events and shopping trips
