About The Role

ARAG UK has an excellent opportunity for a Risk Officer to join our Risk Management department in Bristol on a 12-14 month secondment basis.

Playing a key role in supporting the delivery and continuous improvement of ARAG UK’s risk framework, the successful candidate will work closely with the Risk Manager(s), risk team, and wider business to help identify, assess, and monitor key risks across all business areas.

As a key member of the team, you will provide risk assurance and constructive challenge to ensure controls are in place and operating effectively. You will also contribute to strategic planning and operational decision-making, helping to build a risk-aware culture in a supportive and engaged business. This is a great opportunity to work with stakeholders at all levels, whilst supporting regulatory compliance and the delivery of the business’ strategic goals.

You will bring prior risk management experience and be able to deliver focused risk oversight in specific areas. You’ll be comfortable applying modern best practice in a dynamic, forward-thinking environment, with the opportunity to build technical specialisms across a wide-ranging risk framework.

Using your communication and influencing skills, you will review and challenge the business’ management of key risk types. You will support confident commercial decision-making through First Line risk identification, measurement, management, monitoring, and reporting processes and you’ll be  active in supporting colleagues to identify, assess, and manage risk events within their business.

About You

You will have a solid understanding of risk management and enjoy building relationships across the risk team and the wider business through ongoing engagement, support, and collaboration. A qualification in risk management would be advantageous; however, we are also open to supporting candidates who are developing their career within risk.

In addition, we are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following:

  • Prior experience in overseeing and running day-to-day risk management processes and materials; e.g. risk registers, risk reporting, risk event triage, etc.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Able to engage stakeholders early and help shape decision-making.

We’re a passionate, enthusiastic team, and our people are encouraged to think independently and take ownership of their work. You will be agile in how you work and adaptable to change. In return for your commitment, we offer generous remuneration and an attractive benefits package, including:

  • 26 days holiday with the option to buy up to a further 5 days
  • Company pension scheme with the option to increase contributions
  • Group Income Protection for all employees
  • Group Legal Protection for all employees
  • Health Cash Plan
  • European Motor Assistance or Home Emergency Assistance
  • Salary sacrifice benefits including Cycle scheme
  • A comprehensive wellbeing programme and free eye tests
  • Access to our employee discounts hub offering exclusive discounts across thousands of retail partners, including discounted gym memberships at over 3,000 gyms across the UK
  • The option to join our Sports and Social club which organises discounted events such as theatre visits and shopping trips

If you think you would be a good match for this role and can demonstrate some transferable experience please apply, regardless of whether you meet all the criteria listed above.
