About The Role

We have an exciting new opportunity to join ARAG UK Group as a Reporting Manager on a secondment basis to cover maternity leave. Reporting to the Head of Business Controlling and Reporting (BC&R), the core responsibility of this role is to manage a team responsible for delivering timely and accurate results, driver analysis, and reporting for the ARAG UK Group, to the Executive Management Committee, the Board, Audit Committee, local regulators and to other key stakeholders.

We’re looking for someone who is able to embed great leadership and build appropriate capabilities in order to create clarity and alignment around the strategic and operational objectives, creating a culture where people want to be and do their best. It’s important that the successful candidate is able to demonstrate team management and performance improvement experience with the ability to manage performance of team members, identifying and communicating strengths and development opportunities.

In this role you will be expected to develop and maintain a strong and effective approach to risk management and controls and ensure timely and accurate production of Solvency II reporting. We’re looking for candidates who can identify and manage a response to changes in accounting regulations, issues and developments in a timely manner, influencing the business as appropriate and ensuring that ARAG Group is fully compliant.

As the Reporting Manager you will be expected to cultivate close working relationships and provide support to the team and colleagues across ARAG UK (Actuarial, Financial Accounting & Control). In addition, you’ll be expected to maintain good working relationships with auditors and external advisors as appropriate.

Good communication skills, both written and oral, is an integral part of the role. We’re looking for someone who has an open and transparent communication style with the ability to listen, influence and challenge appropriately as well as explain regulatory reporting concepts to employees across the business at varying levels.

About You

We’d like to hear from ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified candidates with significant PQE gained in a commercial capital/regulatory role in a financial services environment and who can demonstrate a detailed knowledge of the regulatory and capital environment of applicable accounting standards (IFRS4 & 17, UK GAAP, SII). Candidates with experience gained in the insurance industry are particularly desirable.

In addition to the above, you can expect to:

  • Cross-train with other roles providing support to the wider BC&R team;
  • Deliver the Capital Modelling requirements and manage any related reporting analysis requirements.
  • Demonstrate project management skills to plan, prioritise and work to meet deadlines; and
  • Focus on achieving high standards by working on your own initiative and taking accountability for results.
