About The Role

ARAG UK has an excellent opportunity for a Policy Content and Wording Specialist to join our high performing and friendly BTE, Product and Portfolio Underwriting department. Within this role, you will be a subject matter expert in policy technical content and a key stakeholder in policy wording production and sign-off.  The successful candidate will have responsibility for monitoring and identifying trends and areas for development, whilst always ensuring good customer outcomes.

You will work closely with the Trading Underwriting, Propositions, Product Governance and Compliance teams to ensure the product and policy wording construct are regulatory compliant and products offer fair value. This will cover the whole suite of products across the UK and Ireland. Identifying areas where underwriting practice could be improved is key, and you will keep the business up to date with valuable information around underwriting performance, trends and current and future impact of political, economic, social, technological, legal and environmental changes.   You will also be responsible for helping to create and maintain training material and guidelines for operational teams.

About You

We are keen to hear from candidates with evidenced professional underwriting or claims handling expertise gained through experience of working within an underwriting or claims environment.  Preferably, you will have demonstrable experience in policy wording construction with technical content sign-off responsibilities, as well as good knowledge of regulatory issues that impact on policy wordings.

In addition, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Superior technical underwriting knowledge to provide guidance and insight to assist decision and strategy makers and all relevant business areas.
  • Knowledge and awareness of Consumer Duty
  • An effective approach to identifying areas of improvement and change, and the ability to take action on this and challenge where necessary
  • Business acumen (including good understanding of internal and external markets and best practice) and strong commercial awareness.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to analyse wording with a focused and meaningful approach
  • Ability to coach and support more junior team members where required
  • Ability to concurrently manage multiple short and long term tasks and projects of varying complexity to associated deadlines, whilst providing high quality output and maintaining internal and external service provision.
