About The Role

These are exciting times at ARAG Law as we are going through a period of positive change and sustained growth across our Litigation teams. As a result, we are expanding our Commercial Litigation offering and have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us as Associate in our Professional Negligence team.

The Professional Negligence team sit within our larger Complex Litigation function and are a highly skilled and supportive team who specialise in intermediate and multi-track professional negligence claims, as well as ancillary claims arising from these cases, including property misrepresentation claims.  The team also deal with wider commercial litigation cases as and when demand requires this.

You’ll be managing a varied caseload of mainly claimant-based Professional Negligence cases across a range of professions, acting on behalf of both individuals and business clients. You’ll ensure you’re your work is delivered with a close eye to risk management and a high level of client service excellence, as well as resolve disputes in a commercial manner, either via the Courts or the use of mediation and other ADR techniques.

This is a hybrid role that can be full-time or part-time (minimum 4 days a week or equivalent hours).

About You

You’ll have previous professional negligence experience from either a claimant or defendant perspective (essential), coupled with a good grasp of the Civil Procedure Rules and the applicable pre-action protocols and experience of resolving cases via mediation and other forms of ADR.

We’re also looking for high levels of client care and an ability to advise on technically complex matters in a clear and understandable format. Alongside professional negligence cases, the team deals with a significant number of property misrepresentation claims, so experience of this case type is also helpful, although not essential as training can be given.

Other candidate requirements include:

  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver high quality performance against deadlines, KPI’s, targets and SLA’s.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation and presentation skills, and able to communicate confidently in a clear, practical and informative way.
  • Proactive approach to managing your own caseload to a very high standard.
  • Clear and demonstrable understanding of the SRA Code of Conduct.
